The UNESCO Global Geopark designation is awarded to a territory presenting sites and landscapes of international geological importance, managed according to a global concept of protection, education and sustainable development. This label recognises an ambitious approach taken by a territory and all its representatives. Established in 1997, the Geoparks are a network of stakeholders who work together in the spirit of experience sharing and cooperation.
